A community choir for everyone!
When Dale returns to Australia in June 2019 she will be starting Brisbane Community Choir. This is a choir for everyone who loves to sing. You don’t need to read music. You don’t need to have singing lessons and you don’t need to audition. This choir is for those who want to have a sing together in a group while learning a little bit about singing every week.
What makes this choir different?
At the start of each two hour session Dale will take the time to warm you up, mind and body, and give you a new thing to learn about the voice every week. This will be practical in nature. She can’t teach everyone to sing, but in this way she can gradually give out information to help you sing better week after week.
Why a choir?
Singing in groups has been demonstrated to help anxiety and stress, to build community and a sense of belonging. Singing is good for your lungs and spirit. Check out Google Scholar to find many articles on the positive impacts of choir singing.
When, where, and how much?
Brisbane Community Choir will be meeting on Wednesday nights from 7pm to 9pm. Two hour sessions will cost $20 pp. Stay tuned for a website dedicated to Brisbane Community Choir where you can pay in advance and get information on location. We are currently looking at northern Brisbane community halls for hire.
How do I get involved?
Email me on my contact page to let me know your interest. There will be Facebook links etc up soon, so you can invite your friends! Share this page with them so they can email me to go on my list!
Do I need to commit to every week?
No! Although we hope you will prioritise coming every week – a choir’s sound is built from regular attendance and commitment – we understand that life gets busy and we all have occasional events that must come first. Please try to come every week to learn new songs and parts, but don’t feel like if you cannot commit to weekly, you cannot come. If you cannot come there will be songs and parts posted for you to learn before the next session.
What about performances?
We are planing a short end of year concert for friends and family to enjoy.
