Training my voice with Dale has been one of the best decisions I have made in my adult life. As a professional performer and teacher, I have been in search for someone like Dale for a long time. Her background, training, technique and commitment to excellence balanced with the openness and warmth of her instruction has solidified a trust I have not found with many other teachers. I feel safe to play and explore new sounds, always knowing that I have a true expert guiding me in the direction of healthy, sustainable sound. I leave every lesson with a greater sense of freedom and understanding of vocal function, not to mention truly tangible progress. Anyone who has the opportunity to work with Dale should consider themselves extremely fortunate and immediately jump at the chance. She is the real deal.

I am currently working fulltime as a singing teacher to primary and high school aged students on the Gold Coast. Recently, I have been undertaking weekly lessons with Dale to improve my understanding of my own voice and to apply her knowledge to my students. As a graduate of Griffith University Conservatorium’s post graduate course of Certificate of Music in Vocal Pedagogy (2012), I value the importance of continuing study as a vocal performer and teacher.

Although Dale’s studio is in North Brisbane, the weekly drive has been worth it due to the significant and measurable progress in not only my own voice, but the voices of all of my students as well. From our very first lesson, I could tell that Dale’s impressive knowledge of not only Musical Theatre but how to teach Musical Theatre singers specifically, was far superior to the tertiary level teachers I had encountered before. Her efficient teaching style not only had me singing through problematic areas in my own voice by the end of our very first lesson – but she has also been responsible for unveiling a stronger, warmer, more free and flexible sound. In addition, I have had significant breakthroughs with many long time students since implementing Dale’s holistic approach to the voice. Students are having more fun and the joy on their faces at their sudden rapid progress has been especially rewarding.

Dale’s style of teaching is supportive, engaging and incredibly easy to implement. Her commitment to keeping singing joyous and her ability to encourage curiosity and playfulness in the singing studio makes lessons with her enjoyable. I walk away from each lesson feeling as if I have progressed significantly from the week before and with a clear direction of what to focus on that week.

Lessons with Dale have consolidated the theory I learnt through the Vocal Pedagogy Course into a more practical application, which has been easy to implement immediately. I am so grateful I have been able to have the opportunity to learn from Dale.

I can honestly say that Dale has been such an inspiration to me as a singer and a teacher, to strive for excellence and to be the best I can be in both these roles, as she does. She is highly respected by her colleagues and adored by her students, and is a leader in the professional voice world, respected both nationally and internationally. Many voice teachers seek Dale’s professional mentoring, experience and knowledge on their own career paths.

I started lessons with Dale Cox at the age of 11. I conveyed my goals and dreams of being a singer and over these past 11 years she has dedicated so much time and LOVE into building my skills through individual based lessons. Coming onto the age of 23 I can confidently say that Dale has single handedly given me the competence and endurance to be able to so. Ranging from heavy duty touring and recording over the past 6 years, to building my confidence as a musician and a female in the music industry – Dale has been nothing short of spectacular. Truly, a staple in the fearless performer I am today and will continue to be as her guidance is so valuable to me.

I’ve been a singer for over 20 years and had a range of vocal coaches during that time, however Dale’s instruction has been exceptional. Dale’s extensive technical knowledge and excellent teaching ability has made an incredible difference to my singing. She has armed me with greater knowledge of ways to continue to improve my vocals but also provided plenty of tools to help produce a better tone for a range of musical styles. All of which was achieved over zoom calls during lockdown!

Best singing teacher I have ever worked with!
